Copyright for illustrators, writers and friends in the creative industries is under threat from AI

My dear illustrators and creative writers. Are you aware of the forthcoming Government's AI consultation? It's not good news. Your work is under threat from AI.

A lot of illustrators, members of the AOI might have already filled out their survey. But some might not. The deadline for that was the 31st January.

Te actual deadline for the Government's consultation is 25 February 2025. A very good newsletter Against The Box has collated a lot of information and has excellent advice. They have collated tips and shortcuts to help with understanding and filling out forms.
There is an OPEN LETTER for the objection to the Government's proposed copyright exemptions for Generative AI training. You can read all about it here
"We are some among the 2.4 million working in the UK creative industries. We are staring in astonishment at the sight of our own government making plans to do away with significant areas of our intellectual property rights, readying to hastily wrap our live’s work in attractive paper as a welcome gift to automated competitors." We, at Mapology Guides are obviously keen to protect all our illustrators and writers work, as well as protecting our business. But as a a fellow designer, I'm appalled the government would not want to protect our freelancer's and creative industries.
