The Social Dilemma
I finally caught up with The Social Dilemma- the documentary-drama hybrid exploring the dangerous human impact of social networking, with tech experts sounding the alarm on their own creations.
I'm sure that a lot of us are aware of the positive as well as negative implications of social media.
But it's one thing knowing about it and another watching this excellent and intelligent document-drama illustrating the dangerous and damaging side effects this is having on the younger generation, democracy and human rights.
It is ESSENTIAL VIEWING for everyone who uses social media and social networking and/or has kids.
We also need to keep this conversation going - not just with big accounts on social media scheduling one post every so often to remind their huge following that what they see on social media is not reality and to not compare themselves (that's just lip service) - but with intelligent ideas and ways how to help each other with our addiction to it all and understand the deeper side effects this is having on many people's mental health as well as manipulating them through what they are viewing - often fake news.
One thing is clear, the big tech giants in this need regulating and people need to come before profit. Otherwise they will be able and allowed to continue reprogramming civilisation.
