Lucia Leyfield - Wild Ink Workshops

I've only recently came across Lucia's world of art and illustration. I immediately fell in love with everything she does. Lucia is an artist, letterer and teacher who loves creating illustrated journals and artist books.

Self Portrait A visual autobiography created in the form of a concertine book with old book covers. Mixed media.

Luckily for me, Lucia creates mini 2-hours workshops. They first are released on Zoom live with Lucia showing us the process of whatever the subject is. She then releases the recordings for anyone to buy and do in their own time. Quite genius really and if I had time I would them all! They are very affordable and Lucia is a fantastic and patient teacher.

The other wonderful part is that these workshops are really for every level. You go at your own pace. If you are a beginner you'll be fine and for the more experienced amongst us, we can take it to whatever level we want to.

Art Materials: Pen and ink with a watercolour wash

One day I'll join one of Lucia's live workshops in her studio. My fear is I will not want to leave....

I've so far taken three workshop live on Zoom. It's really nice working alongside other participants and watching Lucia do her magic. there are always hand outs we print beforehand and a materials list. The workshops are well prepared and the I can only recommend the experience.

The next images are mine. Just to show you what you can do. I wasn't particularly happy with my crown so I turned it into a patterns - which I like much better! I also like the kind of Vivienne Westwood look I've gone for. And that's the great thing about art. You are free to turn it into what you like. There are no rules. I always say: every bad drawing can be turned into something.... a collage, a pattern and so on.
